I'm Feeling Kind of Bloggy Today

So it feels like  f o r e v e r  since I have updated this blog.  How can two months feel like forever?!?
To bring you up to date, we are making baby steps on the house (okay, occasional leaps), and trying to maintain sanity while abiding in our current living situation (I may be getting repetitious by saying that).  The house project is going on two years now, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Yesterday I helped the kids pick out colors to paint their rooms, and we purchased the paint.  Everything upstairs is primed, besides a bit of trim that is part of our next project. All of the upstairs windows are replaced. Now there are 22 downstairs windows on order.  The upstairs walls are primed; now we are waiting on trim, and then final paint.  The dining room is primed as well.

Julia's colors
Julia has picked out a sea creatures theme (fits a farm house, don't you think?).  At first I thought it would be odd, and I tried to convince her to do butterflies & birds, but in the end she really wanted the nautical sea creature thing, so that's what we're doing her room. We found a coffee mug that had all of the colors that she likes and would work perfectly for her room colors. The bathroom that both kids share will have a similar theme/color scheme. The claw foot tub will be a very bright color (underneath side), and neutrals on the walls. Sea shells, and nautical decor will fit nicely.

Jonathan has not had a lot of suggestions for what he would like in his room, but he likes gray on the walls, and red somewhere in the room. I'm going to look for a piece of art or something to further inspire his room colors. For now we have chosen Seagull Gray for his walls, and Polar Bear for all of the upstairs trim. The photo's not very good; the paint cards got smudged when they were mixing it up for us, but this gives the general idea.

Lately we've been struggling with deciding on light fixtures. It is so hard to find just the right fixture to fit.  We mostly have 8' ceilings throughout the whole house. Upstairs we used recessed lights. downstairs I'm hoping to use at least one chandelier. Waylon likes Irish pub lighting, and I like anything unusual, but I also like classic looking early American light fixtures. If anyone has suggestions on places to shop for unusual light fixtures (other than Etsy) please leave comments below- suggestions welcome! At first I thought I might try to build some custom lighting fixtures from some of the bottles around (the previous owners once had a bottle collection that was left behind), but I think I've scrapped that idea. Looking for something more simple now.

Here are some other random pics of the house, and flowers from Mother's Day.
